FAQ’s
Does play therapy mean I pay you to play with my kid?
Not exactly, children speak their unconscious belief system through their play. My training and expertise in play therapy has taught me how to appropriately facilitate insight through the play session. Enabling the child to cope in all aspects of their life in a more appropriate way.
Do you talk to people about me? Is this really confidential?
Therapy is ALWAYS confidential. The only time I speak about a client to someone else is if there is a safety concern of the client hurting themself or someone else. We would then figure out the best person to notify together. I also legally have to report ANY suspected child abuse or neglect to DFPS.
I am also very aware that Dallas is a small area. If I ever see a client outside of the office, as happy as I am to see my clients, I will never acknowledge the client unless the client chooses to say hello first. Your comfort and confidentiality is my priority.
How long will I or my child be in therapy for?
I wish there was a magic number for this question, but it really varies from each person to person. Some people will only need/want about 6 sessions, some require and/or want more.
